How to choose a green screen or backdrop

Material. Muslin is cheap, packs small and creases — it needs steaming or a lot of light to hide wrinkles. Polyester and non-woven hold colour more evenly. Vinyl and paper give the flattest surface but do not fold.

Size against your framing. Measure the widest shot you will actually use, then add a metre each side. A backdrop that just fills a headshot will not survive a standing two-shot.

Distance and lighting. Keep the subject at least 1.5 m off the screen or green spill lands on hair and shoulders. Light the screen separately from the subject and aim for even coverage across it — two lights at 45° is the standard.

Support. Backdrops need a stand system or a wall mount; those are in stands and grip.

Most backdrops show a price and go straight to the cart. Where one says Request price, send your size, material and city and we confirm price and lead time on your quote.

Questions we get asked

How far should a subject stand from a green screen?

At least 1.5 metres. Closer than that and green light bounces onto hair and shoulders, which is the hardest kind of spill to key out cleanly.

Green or blue screen?

Green for most work, because cameras record more green information. Blue is better when the subject wears green, or for skin tones under certain lighting.

Does the screen need its own lights?

Yes. Light the screen evenly and separately from the subject. Uneven screen lighting is the most common reason a key looks ragged.

Muslin, polyester or vinyl?

Muslin is cheapest and packs small but creases. Polyester and non-woven hold colour more evenly. Vinyl gives the flattest surface but cannot be folded.

Why do some backdrops say Request price?

Some sizes and colours do not have a confirmed India price yet. Send your size, material and city and we confirm price and lead time on your quote.
