Corporate interview and testimonial

Soft key and fill, a lavalier or shotgun, and a tripod for a producer shooting sit-down testimonials or founder talks in an office.

Corporate interview and testimonial — OneProGear

What you need

  1. A soft key and a fill.

One COB in a softbox off-axis (RC 60B + RA-D30, or Aputure LS 60x / LS 300x) and a reflector or a second small light on the background. Office downlights are why testimonials look like a laptop camera.

  2. A microphone on the subject.

BLX14/CVL for a proper lav with a rack receiver. Lark Max 2 if you need invisible and fast. VP83F shotgun above frame if the room is quiet. Do not use the camera mic across a boardroom table.

  3. A locked camera and a second angle.

Tripod at eye height (CT-20 or a travel video kit). Bring your own body: 35–50 mm for the wide, 85–135 mm for the tight, clean HDMI for a Shinobi II or an ATEM Mini Pro if two cameras cut live. Sony FX3/FX30 are enquire.

  4. A teleprompter, only if scripted.

SmallRig 3646. Skip it for testimonials.

  5. Headphones.

Closed-back, on the recordist, so a bad lav is caught on take one.

Notes on this setup

Buy vs enquire

SmallRig and Aputure lights, Shure BLX and shotguns, Hollyland Lark, Atomos Shinobi, ATEM Mini Pro and the SmallRig teleprompter are priced and cartable. Camera bodies are bring-your-own or enquiry.

Build me a list

Tell us the room, the budget and how many people are on mic. We will send back a costed list for Corporate interview and testimonial — usually the same working day.

Questions we get asked

Lav or boom for an interview?

A lav (Shure BLX14/CVL, or Hollyland Lark Max 2 if you want it wireless and invisible) for a moving subject. A shotgun just above frame (Shure VP83F) if you can control the room and keep the frame clean.

One camera or two?

One locked-off A-cam is a finished interview. A second body on a longer lens is the B-roll cutaway. Two cameras with clean HDMI can land on an ATEM Mini Pro if you need a live cut.

Do I need a teleprompter?

Only for scripted founder or CEO pieces. SmallRig's multifunctional teleprompter (3646) is cartable. Unscripted testimonials look worse on a prompter than off one.

What camera should I bring?

A body that can hold a locked frame for 20 minutes, with a 35–50 mm for the wide and a 85–135 mm for the tight. Clean HDMI if you add a monitor or a switcher. We do not cart that body yet.
