Build it yourself: what you need

  1. A webcam on you, at eye level.

Elgato Facecam Neo for 1080p60 with autofocus; OBSBOT Meet SE and Meet 2 with auto framing. Put it on top of the monitor you actually look at, not on the laptop below it — students read attention from where your eyes point.

    See all Webcams
  2. A microphone that is near your mouth for the whole session.

Mirfak TU1 or Godox EM68 as a first mic, Godox UMic82 or RØDE NT-USB+ on the desk. Recorded lessons are the reason to care: a live class survives thin audio, a recording that gets watched fifty times does not.

See all USB and podcast microphones
  3. An overhead camera over the page.

Built from parts: SmallRig's Desk Overhead Photography bracket or the CT25 overhead tripod, with a second webcam or a phone looking straight down. This is how to do the document-camera job without a separate document camera.

  4. A ring or panel light that clears the overhead arm.

Digitek's foldable desk light, DRL-14C ring light or 19-inch panel; Godox LR120, LR150 and LR180 ring lights. Mounted beside the monitor, not above the page: a light directly over an overhead camera puts your own hand shadow on the worksheet.

See all On-camera and ring lights
  5. A second light on the board or the wall behind you.

SmallRig RC 30B and RC 60B Lite, Godox SL60IID and ML60II Bi. A whiteboard lit from the front glares straight back at the lens; put the light off the board axis at about 45 degrees and the writing reads.

    See all LED lights
  6. A clip mic for the days you stand and teach.

Hollyland Lark Max 2, Godox MoveLink M1 or RØDE Wireless PRO. Wireless clip mics here run in the licence-exempt 2.4 GHz band, so there is no UHF band question for a classroom in India.

See all Lavalier and headset microphones
  7. A capture card if the camera is not a webcam.

Elgato Cam Link 4K to bring a mirrorless or a camcorder into Zoom and OBS as a normal camera; UGREEN CM716 or CM700 for an HDMI source you also want to record. This is also how a second teacher's screen joins the class without a second computer.

Price and lead time

Every kit on this page shows a final price: sourced to order and dispatched in 14 to 21 working days. Any item on a quote gets its price and lead time on the quote. Document cameras, interactive panels and classroom projectors are not part of these kits. A room with fixed cameras, a board PTZ, an encoder and ceiling mics is an install — start from the school and lecture-capture setup and send the Pro Desk the room size and batch strength.

Build me a list

Tell us the room, the budget and how many people are on mic. We send back a costed list and a quotation within 2 business days of a complete request.

Questions we get asked

Do you sell document cameras?

Not as a category. The same result is built from parts — an overhead bracket or arm over the desk with a webcam, a phone or a small camera looking down at the page. The Better kit does it with a 4K webcam on a damped desk arm.

How do I show working on paper and my face at the same time?

Two sources. The face camera on the monitor, the overhead camera on the page, and you switch between them in Zoom, Meet or OBS. Frame the overhead once on an A4 sheet and tape a mark on the desk so the page always lands in shot.

Headset, clip mic or table mic?

A wireless clip mic if you stand and move at a board, such as the Hollyland Lark Max 2 or Godox MoveLink M1. A table mic like the Godox UMic82 if you teach seated. A gaming headset is the one to avoid: it sounds thin over three hours.

Whiteboard or tablet?

A camera on a whiteboard needs the board lit evenly and unbroken by glare, which usually means moving the light off the board axis. If the writing is the lesson, a tablet screen-shared is sharper than any camera — keep the overhead for printed questions and worked steps.

What do I need to record while teaching live?

Either the platform's own recording, or a capture card feeding OBS — Elgato Cam Link 4K for a camera, UGREEN CM716 for an HDMI source. Recording locally is what protects a batch when the class internet drops mid-session.

Is this the same kit as a college lecture-capture room?

No. A classroom with fixed cameras, a PTZ on the board, an encoder and a room mic is an install — that is the school and lecture-capture setup, and it goes through Pro Desk.
