Online teaching — Starter (face cam plus an overhead for the notebook)

Bring your own

• laptop or desktop with two free USB ports
• the notebook, worksheet or tablet you write on
• no document camera needed: the overhead arm plus the second webcam does the same job
• headphones or earphones
• a socket or USB power near the desk for the light

Why this kit

Instead of a separate document camera, this kit builds one. Two Facecam Neo bodies rather than one camera and one improvised phone means both feeds are the same make, the same colour and the same driver, and a teacher switching between face and page in Zoom or OBS picks from two identical devices instead of fighting a phone app. Autofocus is the deciding spec on the overhead position: handwriting at A4 distance is fine detail, and this webcam focuses from 30 cm out. The overhead bracket clamps to the desk rather than standing on it, which keeps the writing surface clear. The desk light goes beside the monitor rather than overhead on purpose: an overhead light with an overhead camera puts the teacher's own hand shadow across every line they write.
