What is on the audio recorder shelf right now

Timecode sync, not capture. Atomos supplies eight of the nine: UltraSync One and UltraSync Blue, plus the cable set that links them to BNC, LEMO, RED bodies and 3.5 mm DSLR inputs. These do not record audio — they stamp matching timecode on every camera and recorder so multi-camera and dual-system sound syncs in one click in the edit.

Studio and rack recording. Blackmagic's HyperDeck ISO Recorder 100G records isolated feeds in a rack. Related decks sit in monitors and recorders.

What is missing. Handheld multi-track field recorders — the Zoom, Tascam and Sound Devices class — are not stocked yet. If you need one for a shoot, say so in an enquiry and we will quote it through the pro desk rather than pretend the shelf covers it.

How to choose what is here. Match the cable to your camera's timecode connector first; UltraSync One outputs and inputs genlock and timecode over BNC, LEMO or mini-jack depending on the cable you pair with it. UltraSync Blue links over Bluetooth to compatible recorders instead.

Questions we get asked

Does an UltraSync One record audio?

No. It generates and distributes timecode so separately recorded audio and video files carry matching timestamps and sync automatically in the edit.

Do I need timecode for a two-camera interview?

Not strictly — a clap will work. Timecode pays for itself once you have several cameras, long takes, or a separate sound recordist, because it removes manual syncing entirely.

Which timecode cable do I need?

It depends on the camera connector: BNC on cinema bodies, 5-pin LEMO on some professional cameras and recorders, 3.5 mm mini-jack on DSLR and mirrorless bodies. Check the camera's timecode port before ordering.

Do you stock handheld field recorders?

Not yet. Handheld multi-track recorders are not in the current catalogue. Send an enquiry and we will quote one through the pro desk.

What is the difference between timecode and genlock?

Timecode labels frames so files can be aligned. Genlock locks the cameras' scanning to a shared reference so they are frame-accurate live, which matters for switching, not editing.
