How to choose an overhead or ceiling mount

Load path and fixing. A ceiling mount transfers weight into structure, not into a tile. Shure's A910-HCM hard-ceiling mount and A900-CM ceiling mount, and the 25 mm pipe adapters (A910-25MM, A920-25MM), are specified for that. Get the fixing surface confirmed before ordering.

Fixed or adjustable. A fixed mount is cleaner and does not drift. An adjustable mount lets a room be re-aimed after furniture moves, which meeting rooms always do.

Cable route. Overhead installs need a path for power and network. Decide it before the mount, because a mount with no cable route creates a visible loop.

Desk and rack alternatives. Ulanzi's TC001 and TC002 desk units and SmallRig's iPad mount cover the desktop end, and the MXP-5 series covers wall-mount racks.

Who installs it. Ceiling work usually needs a contractor and a permit conversation. We will supply parts to an installer or quote the job through the Pro Desk.

Questions we get asked

Can a ceiling mount be fixed to a suspended tile?

No. Mounts must transfer load into structure above the tile. Shure's hard-ceiling and pipe mounts are made for that; confirm the ceiling type before ordering.

Fixed or adjustable ceiling mount?

Fixed is cleaner and does not drift out of aim. Adjustable is worth it in rooms where furniture and camera framing change.

Do overhead mounts include cabling?

No. Power and network cable routing is specified separately and should be planned before the mount is ordered, or you end up with a visible cable loop.

Do I need an installer?

For ceiling and wall work, usually yes, and often a permit conversation as well. We supply parts to your installer or quote the whole job through the Pro Desk.
