Why this kit
The step up from the Starter is a quieter, more flexible condenser and more than one input. The NT1 5th Generation has the same 4 dBA capsule with a USB-C output as well as XLR, so it can record straight into a laptop in 32-bit float when you are away from the desk. At home it runs into the P4next, which supplies 48 V and has four XLR inputs, so a second mic does not mean a new interface, and each input arrives in the DAW on its own channel. The P4next has no instrument input or speaker outputs: a guitar needs a DI box, and if you plan to mix on monitors take the two-input console swap. Closed NTH-50s keep the playback out of a sensitive condenser while you track.
