Why this kit
A Reels starter is won on two upgrades and nothing else: get the phone off the table and get a light above the eye line. The SmallRig tripod goes to 180 cm and its ball head carries 5 kg, so it holds the phone for a standing full-length shot today and a mirrorless body later. The phone clamp and the Arca-Swiss plate are in its box, so nothing else is needed to mount the phone. The S 60 is chosen over a 3.5 mm lav because it hands the phone a USB-C receiver with no adapter and no app, and a mic on your collar is the only part of this list that fixes room echo. The D40W is a panel, not a ring light, because a ring reads as a ring in the eyes and a panel bounced or feathered off a wall does not. At CRI 96+ it keeps skin honest, and its colour temperature can match the room. Nothing in the kit is thrown away when you upgrade.
