Why this kit
The FX3A is the full-frame body the cage, handle and power in this kit are cut for: the XLR handle comes in the box so the NTG5 goes in by XLR, and the NP-FZ100 dummy battery lets the V-mount run it all day; the 24–70 mm f/2.8 GM II runs from wide to a mid close-up at f/2.8, so most setups need no lens change. The Video Assist takes 12G-SDI as well as HDMI, which is what makes this rig work on a shoot where the camera changes: it is the one monitor that does not need replacing when an SDI body turns up, and it records a second copy in ProRes or DNx. It runs on its own NP-F battery, so one V-mount on the plate is left to run the camera. Two 148.3 Wh batteries is a deliberate trade: they exceed the 100 Wh carry-on limit and need airline approval, but they will run a full day where a 99 Wh pair will not. The clamp-on matte box keeps variable ND and a polariser in front of the lens rather than screwing filters on and off, which is the difference on a day with twelve setups.
