Why this kit
Two microphones, not one, is the actual run-and-gun lesson: the shotgun covers ambience and walk-and-talks, the clip-on covers the sit-down interview you did not plan for. The R50 has one 3.5 mm input, so you plug in one at a time. The Virso M1 transmitter can record a backup to the microSD card in this kit, so a dropout does not lose the interview. The camera is a Canon R50 with its 18–45 mm kit zoom: an affordable 4K body; it has no in-body stabilisation, so handheld work leans on the lens's optical IS. The tripod is deliberately modest: at this tier you are handheld most of the day and the tripod is for the interview. The audio, light and tripod are camera-agnostic, so nothing is wasted when you change bodies.
