Why this kit
A dubbing studio is judged on two things a home setup never has to solve: pattern flexibility and getting several people on headphones. The NT2000 is multi-pattern, so the same microphone covers a single narrator in cardioid, a two-voice dubbing pass in figure-8 and an ambient or group take in omni, replacing what would otherwise be three microphones and three mounts. The RØDECaster Pro II is chosen for its four combo inputs and four high-power headphone outputs, which is the normal population of a dubbing session once you count an engineer and a language supervisor, and its faders mean levels are set on the desk rather than in software. Where talent and director need different cue mixes, plan them in the DAW. Treatment is the one thing we cannot supply yet, and on this microphone it is not optional.
