Why this kit
A first voice-over room is almost never treated, and that single fact should decide the microphone. A broadcast dynamic like the PodMic has to be worked close, and working close is exactly what drops the room's contribution below the voice; a large condenser in the same room would hand you a beautifully detailed recording of the walls. The AI-1 is one input because a solo narrator needs one input, and its 60 dB of gain carries a low-output dynamic at close speaking distance. The boom arm is not decoration: a straight desk stand forces the talent to lean down, which closes the throat and changes the read. The windscreen is listed for this mic, so there is no guesswork about fit, and plosives on close narration are the most expensive thing to fix in post.
